    250r light with s

Will a 85/86 head light work on a 200s motor? Will it light properly? I thought I heard some time ago that it took different electric components to work correctly. Thanks

The '85 uses a 45/45w bulb, the stock 200s stator puts out 50w. The '86 uses a 55/60w which would be less than impressive. Ricky Stator sells a 70w replacement stator that would make the larger one bright.

    I'm working on an '84 200s . I'm going to replace the stator & use a 55/60w with a TRX300ex reflector in a '86 125m headlight case.

That's definitely a cheaper alternative and easier if its possible. It would be good enough for me

    I think the R uses an H4: 45W H4 Bulb Link

The thing to remember about the S: it has no voltage regulator so you need both bulbs with proper wattage or they'll either be dim or blow. I think the S uses a 45W headlight and 5W taillight.

    I believe the stock 85R bulb is 45W and 86 is a 60W. My 85R has a 90/130 bulb in it now.

Big red lance, if I got the Ricky stator you mentioned that would be the safest route? I believe my head light off my r is an 85.

I'd try the 45W bulb with a 5W tail light first. Cheaper.

If you get a high output stator, consider a 2-wire style voltage regulator.
