On the neck of the trike, it says 185s but the year is rubbed off.

The VIN should be stamped on the side of the neck (stamped in metal, not the foil sticker).
10th digit (a letter) in the VIN is the year:
1980: A
1981: B
1982: C
etc...
1987: H
The engine serial number is usually stamped on the side of the crankcase where the shifter shaft is. Look for a rectangular flat area where the shifter goes into the crankcase, and wipe away any dirt and grime. You should see the engine code there.

Thank you wonderboy.
Yep, engine serial is under the sprocket area. Frame VIN number could be before the 17 digit standard, if so it's a 1980 and starts with TB01. The engine serial all starts with TB01E for the 185/185S engines. The atc200 and 200s engines start with TB05E. The ending part of the serial identifies make/model/year, first part is a generic model code for the engine (200m, 200es, 200e, 200x etc uses the same code).
FYI, it's possible your engine could have been swapped, there's a few models that interchange, so never hurts to check frame VIN & engine serial to know what you have.
