auto x build
i just got down building a 200x with a 85 200m motor and was woundering how is everyone is setting up the rear breaks on a auto x? pictures would be great

Here's mine. There aren't great, but you should still get the idea. I used a 1981 ATC200 for the donor. I took the brake pedal off the ATC200. It's mounted to one of the pieces that the foot peg bolts to. The pivot hole was too small so I drilled it out to 3/4". It was a little bit tight yet, so I removed the pain from the mount and it fit great. When I tightened up the foot peg bolt, the pedal was too wide at the pivot so I removed some material with a bench grinder. I greased he mount before the pedal went on for good. For a linkage, I took a piece of flat metal that used to be the lock for a n old Craftsman tool box. I had to drill a hole in each end so that it could mount to the pedal and the 200X link. It may not be the best, but it cost nothing and didn't take very long to do.

Thanks for showing me this, I can't wait to get back on this project

i hear a 350x pedal will work but looking for pics

welder and drill make anything work. i had custom pedal make for mine. i didnt like the hand down style.

I used a 230 quadsport rear brake pedal and a 82 250r rear master.A left hand brake master cylinder would be a cool way to go.

I 2nd that idea...less linkages the better
-
I'm seriously considering the double brake lever option on my next AutoX build too.
-
On my 83 300r I have the front master hooked to the rear brake.Works great for cornering on the tt track.I have thought about running both front and rear brakes from one mastercylinder.

I picked up a left hand brake master and ordered a custom brake line to run straight to the rear. This all in it cost me around 90 bucks but made life much easier.
-
that does not sound to bad. but it would get hard to get use to that
-
Not for me. I find that on auto clutch machines, I rarely use the foot brake anyway.
-
i use a foot brake mostly on all my trikes.
my next ? is i got it run good but when i go little over half throttle it starts to act like it not getting enough fuel or air . i am running the stock carb off the 200m . but it has a dg pipe on it full air box with no holes. could i just take the stock jets out of a 200x carb that is junk but jets are still good or should i just try to tune the one i have? and if so where should i starte. thanks for the help

Unless you had the same setup (DG=stock airbox) then I don't think that the 200X jets would be close either. I'd say to jet the carb that you're running. Jetting is part guess, part trial and error. You definitely need to go richer. If it seems to run fine below half throttle, maybe the only jet that you have to change will be the main jet. Moving the clip on the needle my need to happen too. For a wild guess, try a 110, 112, 115, and a 117. My method is to keep going larger until it quits running better. Then, go back one size. If you use all of these and it still runs better, keep going up in size. If your engine is all stock except for the exhaust, I doubt that you'll need to go much larger than a 120 main. You may not make it to a 120.
