    Plumbing advice , yee haw!

Any septic plumbing experience on here tonight?
Should I use mortar or hydraulic cement around this 4" pvc at the septic inlet?
I have some newspaper packed around the pvc and was planning to have the cement about 1.5" thick around the pvc into the inlet. Then when cured I was going to use fiber roof and asphalt coating to seal it. Lots of trees around.
Sorry for this subject, it really stinks.

Hydraulic cement and just some roof tar yup that’s all. Cement sets up quick/nothing fancy, put on some work gloves and use your hands to work it in. An hour later tar it up. Been through that a few times on jobs/yes it stinks!!!!

Septic tanks usually have a cast in place rubber boot, like a fernco, but seeing how yours doesn't, use that vinyl or a hydraulic cement. You can forgo the newspaper backing if you want, mix it up stiff and pack it in the void. Start at the bottom work your way up. Some cats run a copper wire, (bare) along the top of the pipe. Roots do not like copper. Anything else, just ask. I lay pipe for a living.

The tank is about 4" thick. How thick should the hydraulic vinyl be?
I also have a mistake to own up to, as many others lately have. I made a lid with an inspection pipe out of 4" pvc also, should have used 6". Can they reduce to pump out of that 4". If not, i will have to dig down a couple feet every 10 years to pump it out....chop more roots, yay!
The lid fit well but it had a little wobble so I put silicone around the perimeter. I figure roots can't grow down through the air gap into the tank but it now has silicone there anyways.

...3 10' boards later, I had the form. On a positive note, i am now a master picture frame maker.

Concrete doesn't really bond to plastic all that well, so the better the collar on the pipe. When I do storm sewer we do a collar on the inside and outside of the manholes, just pack it in the void real nice. As for the 4" for a clean out, it might fit, been a while since I've pumped a tank but I think
The suck hose is about 4" o.d. doubt they can reduce down as it's a cam lock fitting on the house, but I've made some weird as adapters out of necessity.
