So...The grandfather called me back and wanted to know what else I had...
Sad to let these go, it bothered me but I knew it was for the best.
Both needed a little tuning but were overall good. He was pleased and told me about the yellow 90 he bought for $100 as a kid.
Pretty smart guy, even though I am making money off these, it's way cheaper for him than buying 9 4-wheelers.
So far I have parted with 15 machines I think.
I think I have about 11 more and I'll end up keeping two or three.
Sounds to me Christmas has been saved, the Bank of Honda prevails again!

hardest part about flipping trikes is deciding which trikes to sell. I'm realizing I don't need my small collection. I like my 350x and 200x. I'm thinking I really dont need the 3 185s trikes but they don't really sell for much locally and I can't replace them for what they sell for. I have a spare 200x, but its nice to have a back up. So in the end, I'll just won't flip anything right now. jim

That is the "hording part" not wanting to sell any. In my early years it was easy, I kept 1 (250sx) and sold the rest, I was paying bills with and testing out this new flipping venture, but as I got profitable, it became easy to keep a bike that was in essence free. I could justify keeping a "rare" or nicer machine, now I look back over 15 machines and only ride 2 or 3 of them regularly. The old saying hold true, I'm not hungry anymore, I'm complacent with the collection. I have committed to downsizing I am running out of space and would like to cash out some of the profits, I have tied up in the collection. It's all part of it.

if I had the room that you have, I'd have a lot more. But living in town with a regular yard it gets hard to keep the toys, plus there's 2 chevelles, a camaro, 2 tacomas, and my beater pontiac vibe. jim

I would rather flip a trike end for end at 35mph than try to sell it around here. I used to sell stuff in the paper or in Uncle Henry's(a weekly rag). People would call and set up a time to come out, and never show. Or they wanted to trade something that I had no interest in.
Then the random calls 7 months later. Think my Flippin days are over! Rather just tinker and ride anyway!

locally a running titled 185s or 200s with decent plastics and seats might get you 600 bucks on a good day. By the time you buy a project trike, a seat cover, add whatever parts the trike needs, 3 new tires, a bonded title runs about 100 bucks so there really isn't much to be made unless you have some beater tires or the trike comes with tires and plastics. jim

I think that really comes down to which model machine it is and the condition. I have always tried to be honest about prices, the margins for the hardtail trikes are very thin. Very early in this thread I laid out how I saw the different models and there values based on demand. (in my location)
briefly as I see it in my area -
Most collectable models : 250r, 350x, 250es, 86/87 200x, 86/87 125m, atc70
each of these have there own following and demand, thus bringing higher resale prices, holding their value better, over all a good investment.
Small niche group - US90 & ATC90 very collectable but must be in excellent condition to retain high value (balloon tries)
All the remaining hard tails are base solely on desire of the buyer, most of these models range in price from $800 to $1800
Sadly the 250sx for what ever reason, they do not command high prices, I have seen them from 500 to 2500 - personally I think they are excellent machines and should be worth a lot more.
Just my opinion and from what I have seen in my area.

Footy:
Up next is a pair of 86 125m's, which I believe are going to a follower of this thread.
Jim:
I agree on margins, but like my father taught me "It's not what you sell them for but what you buy them for". You have to come across good deals on complete machines. If you get into replacing plastics and buying eBay parts then you will quickly have more in one than you will ever get for it.
