    85 Tecate build.......and parts needed

Ok so im beginning my tecate build. Its going to be an 85 model with a 98 kx250 motor, hopefully kx100 inverted forks and a trx450 rear axle assembly. Im currently looking for a good condition seat base with rubbers and latch, swingarm bolt and bushings, front gas tank hooks, rear brake pedal setup

Sweet! Even though they're not a Honda, I still like Tecates.

If you're going with custom triples you should go right to 450 forks. I've ran kx100 inverts on a 2nd gen tecate, they leave a lot to be desired. Good luck with your project!
Looking for a Bassani silencer for a 2nd gen tecate, the style with the movable mount. 1st gen will work

I had an 87 tecate with racetech em's etc in oem forks and found not too bad, still could of with more bottoming resistance. I would of thought kx100 would have to be an improvement on those?

Some of the worst forks ever put on a bike. Theres a reason they went back to conventional forks after a few years of those.

I was riding MX on kx100 forks, so make sure you apply that info to your application. I had a set I built using stock 2nd gen triples, bored 1mm to fit the kx100 forks. They sucked, real bad. I bashed the bottom of my custom pipe because of them. I swapped them out for a set of of the same kx100 forks from a Ben's trike and they were acceptable. They weren't great, but they kept my pipe out of the dirt. We dont know what was done to Ben's forks, but we assume they have stiffer springs and upgraded valving. The great thing about the newer 450 forks is that the valving can be adjusted with a screwdriver, instead of being set in one place like the kx100 forks.
