can you interchange crankshafts between years?

Hi, I have a 1982 atc70 and the crankshaft is quite damaged (keyway is a mess and the thread is damaged.
I can find one for 1978-1980 but none for the 1981 and up... does anyone know if there is much difference?
here are the part numbers:
78-80: 13000-098-761
81-up: 13000125000

thanks for any help! The atc70's timing can't be adjusted other than from the plug gap. This one has a worn flywheel taper and worn crankshaft so I will need both...

Cranks are different , different flywheels . Spark is advanced threw the points gap , set them at .014-.016 .

Hi, yep I did that adjustment but as the keyway was wrecked on my crankshaft, the flywheel clocking may be slightly off affecting the clocking of the cam that opens the points.

alright. I just found a nice looking crankshaft and flywheel on eBay... the teardown begins tonight
