What does this cable do? 83/84 250R
I have an 83 and 84 250R and the piece I circled in the picture is missing on my 83. (The spring with the cable mounted to the side of the caliper)
The bikes are a few hours away from me right now so I cant really go out and look.
Is it for the rear brake operation?

You don't need it, but it does come in handy from time to time. There are block off plates made to cover it if you want to remove it.
