    Clark or IMS fuel tank?

I am building a 1985 atc250R and I need a black fuel tank. I can’t decide what tank to get. Is one tank better then the other? I did notice the IMS seems to use stock fuel tank hardware. It will have a 370 in it for a engine.

I agree with Shortline10, I have 2 Clark desert tanks on my bikes and neither was plug and play, but I liked the shape VS IMS for that model. The IMS tanks I’ve seen and installed seem to be a step up.

I have the opposite experience, but on a 350x. Mine had an IMS tank when I bought it. Fit well used stock petcock. Seemed bulkier and had weird lines. Switched to a Clarke and it’s much more comfortable and looks better imo. Fit perfect stock hardware etc. have Clarke’s on my Xr250r and xr400r (oversized so there very bulky 4.3 gallons ) but they fit and look nice. My .02$

Well I decided on the IMS tank for my 250r. I got the tank today and I tried to mount it but one of the back tabs wouldn’t line up. After trying everything to make it fit I decided to remove the tank and see if it was the tank. Soon as I looked at the mounts closest to the seat latch I saw the problem. The left mount was not inline with the one on the right. This was the reason why every bolt lined up but that one. I called IMS and he wasn’t sure why it was that way. He pulled another tank and he really didn’t say much. I had that feeling the one he had was the same way. I waited 4 weeks for this tank and not sure I should wait for them to figure it out or just get a Clark instead.

Always have preferred IMS over Clarke...
