Pics show the finished (for now) product. I put this together last December, and we have only had two snows totaling 1" apiece, so I haven't had a chance to see how much snow it will handle.

I had some car chains laying around but they aren't wide enough. I might see about some truck chains as there are several used ones offered for sale locally.
I have a Toro single stage snowthrower which I have been thinking about using as a useful rear ballast. I would make some kind of bracket to attach to the rear rack to carry the Toro, use the snowthrower where the blade can't/won't work, and reload the blower and use the blade for the rest. I weigh 215 so I add to rear axle weight as well....
Looks good. It sounds like we've had just about the same amount of snow here. I only bothered with the snow shovel once.
