All honda axles intercharge with atvs atvs for th 250r 200x 250x 300ex 400ex 450r. The width of the bearing surfaces change. The sprock hub on the axle will tell the story of the axle. that will give you the bolt pattern of the sprocket and from there you can look it up on JT's website.

this is what you should upgrade to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dura-Blue-3...rd!17545!US!-1

your OEM lock nut should use a C clip on the axle to grab. If you do not have that then you could have slop. You need a new rotor hub however to start with.

    your swingarm is 1985
    your carrier is 1986

you can not use 1986 brake parts on 1985. two different styles. You wither need to convert it over to 1986 350x or trx250x/300ex so things are pletyfull. 1985 swingarms used a bolt on brake torque arm, 1986 used a slider collar and a differnt caliper mount. This is why yours has no brakes since somone prob had no idea what to do.

if you go back to all 1985 stuff you need to used a 1985 carrier. your setup is not bad but its need a good $100-200 in parts to be finished up and really work.

Look at your sprocket hub its totally different. Not all Honda axle innerchange with all atvs. The 85 250r axle will not work in the 86 250r carrier. The 85 250r axle will not work in an 83,84 250r. Its way to wide. Also 81 250r axle will not work in 82 250r. Click image for larger version.

Thanks for the replies, but holy cow, READ what I’ve wrote!!!

    ITS A DURA BLUE AXLE

DURA BLUE AXLE - DURA BLUE AXLE - DURA BLUE AXLE

The reason the 86 carrier won’t work on a 85 swingarm is because the 85 sprocket bolts install from the inside and the heads will hit the thicker flange of the 86 carrier. When you Install a DURA BLUE AXLE, the year doesn’t matter because the bolts install from the outside of the sprocket.

I’m not convinced the brake hub is worn either, it’s not pretty, but it’s not missing much material either and still fits the carrier seal nice and snug.

My problem is the inside diameter of the brake hub is too small to continue sliding on the DURA BLUE AXLE and reach the carrier bearing to stop.

IF THE ID of a 300ex brake hub is larger that the ID of the 350x brake hub, it might solve my problem.

Anyone know the ID of a 300ex splined brake hub?

Fixed it. A little light filing on the inside of the brake disc hub, and it slid on exactly where she should.

Now for some fresh bearings & seals, and it’ll be ready to rock.

Thanks for the help, and for not letting me forgot that my axle isn’t stock!

I was going based off how close the sprocket hub is to the bearing carrier.

Pure Sport / Realtors - They’re out of business. These are dry rotted and one wheel is slightly wobbled on the mounting holes. You can get them for $40 plus shipping if you’d like.
