1986 350x clutch problems, need help.

I purchased a 1986 350x 6 months ago and slowly had to buy the parts necessary to get it running. During that process I put in new clutch plates, discs, and springs. Today I fired it up for the first time and noticed that the engine would shift into gear fine but would only crawl forward no matter how much gas I gave it. The other strange thing I noticed is even when it's in gear I can still push the bike forward and back. I'm not sure what could be causing this. Side note: the external oil line had a crack in it and my attempt to seal it actually blocked the line. Not sure if this would cause clutch issues. I will need to replace that line. Any help is appreciated

Is your clutch cable adjusted properly? It sounds like your clutch isn't fully releasing.

Same thing happened to me but it was over 10 years ago and I can't remember exactly what caused it (I think my pressure plate was broken) but I do know it was obvious what it was when I disassembled it.

I think I have a pressure plate if you need one, just let me know.

Does your clutch lever have play in it?

Most definitely seems like the clutch is not engaging for some reason.

External oil line has nothing to do with clutch, but may now have top end cam/rocker arm damage lack of oil. You need to disassemble clutch something is not installed correctly like the shim spacer.

I had a 350x clutch giving me fits a while back. Turned out the cable was coming apart inside the sheith and not allowing the cable to move inside to return the clutch to the closed position.

There are so many variables without any of us knowing exactly what you have.

Just a week ago a guy put an 86 cover on an 85 350X but never mentioned it when everyone was trying to help.

Another guy had an 86 cable on an 85, there are lots of variables.

If it's crawling, your clutch is never closing the pack. That can be a spring issue, a plate issue, a thrust washer issue.

Is the inner hub free of the outer hub when the 4 springs are removed?? That's another issue some people have...
