    84 200ES Speedometer Drive Disassemble/Assembly

Anyone know how the speedo drive comes apart? Mine turns hard, would like to take apart, clean and grease it up. Can't figure out how it comes apart. I can take the screw out for the cable, but how does the actual drive come apart.

Remove drive gear from housing, then remove the seal under it. Also, get that buggered up screw out of your way so the pinion seal can be removed. After that pull the pinion gear out. Should be ready then. Good luck with it.

I got the screw out and the old cable end out. Does it pop apart where I have the screwdriver inserted? I have tried prying, but no luck. Not pushing too hard, not wanting to damage it if I am wrong

There is this small flat head screw, that is stuck, and I have not had luck getting out. Dont think that is needed to get main drive apart myself though.

Just updating thread, I cleaned the inside a bit better and found a snap ring inside that needs to be taken out. Then just slides apart.
