    Really nice original 85s - 250R and 350X - worth it?

I know there are 1000 of these threads but I'm about to spend a large sum of money possibly. I found a mint set of 85s. 250r and 350x. Both all original except for aftermarket rear fender on the R and the X has a small ding in the tank. Still have toolkits and original tires. Original owner as well. No titles as state didn't issue them. Less than 20 hours on the R. I really want them. Im trying to decide if I'm crazy and just being impulsive or if they are worth asking price. I know it is whatever I'm willing to pay but if I can do better by a lot I should probably wait. Location is east coast. If you all could toss out some ranges I would really appreciate it.

8 to 10k. Would be a good price. Here in Nh the nice 350x seam to be around 4500 and the 250r around 5500. I look on Craigslist everyday. I’m not on face book so I can comment on those prices. The tires on the ones your looking at seem to have more then 20 hours if I had to guess. I wish I had the balls to fork over 10k to stare at some old Three wheelers. I can’t wait to here what his asking price is.

for 10K you could build a restored OEM one or crazy build aftermarket one.

Although those trikes are in good shape, there appears to be WAY more than 20 hours on them. Not that it matters much as far as value but its a warning flag if that's what your being asked to believe. The R looks to have a rip in the seat and a cracked left shroud and 50% percent gone on the rear tires. I know things cost different in different areas, but here in California those would be in the under $3000 price range each. Not that the price out here should reflect the price where you are, I just think the price being a premium because of "low hours" is a stretch.

I appreciate the responses so far. I noticed the seat and the shroud and agree that both machines seem to have the same number of hours by the tires. However the boot wear on the case on the 350x looks much greater.

I should also mention that I have no plans to watch these sit. I plan to ride them both. Is that crazy? Should I only be buying them to sit. Are there parts I should remove and keep stored somewhere?

I will certainly share the price once I gather some more replies.

They are both super nice and appear to be survivors. As stated above, unless equipped with an odometer, any claim to # of hours on the motor would only be a guess. I look at the footpegs. Their "sharpness" tends to be a good barometer of how much they have been ridden. Here in PA, if you could get that 350X for $3K and the 250R for $4K you'd be a winner.

As an owner of some all original low hour machines, I can tell you there is a certain satisfaction that goes with riding a real tight trike. Especially with the 4-strokes there is a distinct "new Honda" motor sound. Kind of a whirring noise. If you are aware then you'll know what I mean. They just sound nice, and turn nice and start nice and ........

But like my friend Stickers always says, "cool s&*$it aint cheap, cheap s*%$it aint cool."

They look like really nice "riders". I can't tell for sure but it looks like the rear " garnish or mud flap" is already missing from the 350x. As far as saving parts the only thing that comes to mind is the plastics. Especially the rears. If the 350x has the garnish I would definately put that some were safe. I have a 250r which I consider an 11 on a scale of 1 through 10 and I'm still running the stock oem plastics, but I'm very cautious with them.

I'm in California and I have not been able to touch a 250r for under four grand for almost 2 years and the ones I've seen that are listed that looks similar to that one are all 5,000 and up.
I viewed an equally nice 350X up in Yucca Valley and the guy was asking 7,000k with the trailer it was on, it looked a little cleaner than the one you are looking at. Regardless to find a machine that is original not restored and that clean is rare and when you do that is why they are priced accordingly.
That was before the ( coronavirus).
In my opinion... Some of these toys are price inflated along with everything else I wouldn't pay top dollar unless you really absolutely had to have it.... If you could score both those for about $9,000 I don't think you would lose money.. unless, of course.... you go and do something silly like actually ride them...
I'd love to have a bike that clean that's the reason my projects sitting languishing for years the cost of a restoration is brutal. To take a average 250R... And bring it to that level far exceeds the purchase price of let's say around 5k.
Nice bikes however much I would love to have one I am not joking after my first week of riding they would never look the same again I have dirt roads right outside my front door.... Unfortunately my bikes cannot be cleaned. That's the beauty of a infrequent weekender or a sand toy.
I need all the help I can get!

Your money......so you do want you want but here is my $0.02.....

Condition like those are in would bring about $3-$4k each around here. Cosmetically challenged ones that run bring at least $1k.
Others have said it, those are clean but more than 20 hours. Somebody is just throwing a number out there. $7-$9k for both probably

.....but I'd have a hard time riding ones that nice after spending that kind of money. Knowing you could spend less and get.....yes.....I'm going to say the 4-letter F word........a four-wheeler. A nice 400ex can be found all day long for less money and you can beat the snot out of it and not lose any sleep over it.
My dad had several antique cars......and they sure are nice to look at

    Good luck!

I appreciate the replies. He was going to sell them both for 9250 and I felt like it was a fair price. I also didn't feel like spending that kind of money to just look at them. I decided that I only wanted the 350x because that is the one that I would ride. I will pull the original rims and tires and plastics off and ride it. We settled on 4000 for the 350x since it wasn't a package deal. A little more than I wanted to spend but I still think it is worth it. I should be picking it up next Thursday. I appreciate everyone adding their input and I hope that in the end I will be happy with the deal I got.

Now does anyone have suggestions on a good tire and rim combo?
