    Question 85 ATC 200x won’t run, I’ve checked everything!!

So I have an 85 200X, won’t start, has good compression and good blue spark, however it won’t fire at all even with starting fluid directly in the spark plug hole and through the carb, I’ve set the timing of the cam and flywheel properly and the spark advancer too, and I’ve doubled checked all the timing and have checked everything with a multimeter and I even replaced the spark plug coil and cdi so I’m stumped as to why it has fuel, spark, compression, and proper timing but yet won’t start! It’s driving me crazy lol any help would be greatly appreciated for this mystery

Have you unhooked the on off switch? Sometimes they go bad and short out

Make sure the advancer isn’t 180 degrees out , it has alignment dots .
Very common when pulling it off the camshaft to reinstall it off alignment

Yep I have checked that too, on the 85 200x you can’t put it 180 out without the cam being in the wrong place, cam timing lines up like it should and so does the spark advancer it’s not 180 out

If your 100% sure compression , spark and it’s getting fuel then I would try bump starting it .
Then fine tune all the settings while it’s running . The 200x model is very finicky and wants everything perfect for it to start easily . Spark plugs wet foul very easy on this model so keep plenty on hand .

Gotcha I’m going to get a new plug today and see if that fixes it because it has a NGK D8EA plug in it what I can’t get a reading with a multimeter and the manual called for an NGK DR8ES-L, so hopefully it’s just a bad plug
