Got the gold laid down on the forks today. Used rustoleum "custom" gold metallic. First time using that specific kind of rustoleum, and im not terribly impressed. The color is fine, its plenty metallic, but the paint "sprayed" like complete garbage, it was more of a spatter than a spray. Both cans sprayed like crap with the nozzles they came with and q spare nozzle i had laying around. The finish ended up with extreme orange peel pretty well after the coats had tacked.

Unsure of how to continue. Apply clear and wet sand that? Or sand the base, reapply a couple coats of color, then clear?

ive read metallic bases don't sand well. If you sand a metallic base you should re apply color after sanding before applying clear. I want the forks to come out better than they look now, so I'm leaning towards sanding, recoating with a better paint, then clear and wetsand.
