ATC250R case compatibility

I just busted my left 85 atc250r case. I am trying to find a pair to replace with and see on Babbitt's that the part numbers for the 85 cases are different than the numbers for the 86 cases. Are the 85 cases different than the 86 cases? If they are then no trx cases will work?

Slight casting differences and paint colors between the 85 and 86 cases but they are totally compatible with each other .
They should be bought in matched sets but I’ve interchanged with no issues .

It looks like the only pairs on ebay have damaged left cases. Do you think this is repairable or should I not consider welding and wait until undamaged cases pop up?

There's a company out there machining billet 250r cases, I think the price tag is under a grand also. Which is actually not outrageous, considering what goes into something like that. Just an option....
