    85 R rear master cylinder

Is there a good aftermarket rear master cylinder available for a 1985 250R?

Are you replacing a bad one, or is it missing altogether?

Missing altogether. I'm trying to put rear brakes on an R that didn't have any when I bought it. What are my best options?

I used a Suzuki LTZ 400 master cylinder when I couldn't rebuild my factory one anymore. You just need to drill and tap the holes out to fit the 250R bolts. Everything else hooked up fine.

They can be pricey but I would try to grab a direct-fit one off Ebay. You'll probably spend around $100 but it'll be a straight forward install.

This is what I'm leaning towards as well. My R was missing the rear caliper when I bought it. I'm messing with the master cylinder right now, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to replace it. I find it quite unnerving to ride an R with only a front brake - if it fails, there's gonna be big problems!

Yeah, I'd grab one. Honestly I only use the front but I wouldn't to not have the rear as a backup.
