    Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Improvement

I have 1983 200E and my 4 year old grandson likes to ride with me on it. I am always concerned he is going to burn his leg on the exhaust pipe. Would like to add a second layer of heat shield over the OEM one. Has anyone else done this or have any ideas on how to?

I am trying to remove the OEM one but the screws are really rusted in. Will eventually get if off with little patience. Was thinking about one of two ways to accomplish this.
    1. Add some spacers between shield and pipe using longer screws
    2. Fabricate another heat shield and use spacers and longer screws between OEM shield and fabricated one to create air space.

Thoughts or ideas would be appreciated and thank you!

I would suggest just using exhaust wrap . Can leave the shield and wrap it underneath the shield , clamp it on each end with a hose clamp .

I second the wrap, not only will it keep things much cooler and keep the kiddo safe BUT it'll also add some performance.
