Only Vette I'd consider is one with an inline six, just to be an oddball and be able to say it DOESN'T have a vee-ate.

    You may be surprised.

I've noticed a recent trend where original, or at least correct restorations are selling for far less than resto mods and other builds that are neither OE or period correct. Essentially, old cars that are built with today's parts, which anyone can currently do, are selling higher than 60's era cars with the same era modifications and aftermarket parts.

A new Honda Civic sells for more than a lot of the classic, vintage, and antique cars rolling through these auctions.

That 1901(?) Olds would be something I'd like to have. If you haven't read about the Ransom Eli Olds (R.E.O. Speed Wagon) and Henry Ford competition from the early days, you should. There are several publications and books out there about it. Or, the first crossing of the US by automobile, which is very interesting.

Will keep an eye on the 57 and 58 Cameo, not as good looking as the 56 though.

I would love to sell a car thought Mecum for the experience of it but they want far to much money to sell your car. Looks like some really good cars going through this one.

I believe you are correct on the fact that the newer generations wants to look cool and retro without all that messing around with carburetors, points and mechanical lifters. Why do you think the big 3 are bringing back some of the older models (except the Dart, what a fail). And newer generations want added safety with disc brakes and comfort with A/C. Being in the military vehicle world myself, we're actually destroying any chance of the next generation of joining the hobby due to the overly inflated prices of these things that no one except old farts like me can afford; and that's only after paying down the mortgage and sending kids to college.

The funny thing is that carbs, points, and mechanical lifters don't actually require much dicking with, there's just a lot of stigma repeated about them by people with little to no experience.

If it's just going to be an occasional driver and is stored in a nice garage, very little of anything will have to be touched for years besides keeping fresh fuel and annual oil changes.

The hardest thing about points if finding a good replacement set anymore. Just about stuck buying NOS, because the new ones sold through parts stores are garbage. I know Blue Streak was brought back within the last few years, but I don't have any points vehicles left to try them on.

Mechanical lifters are a little noisy. There's no getting around that.

I prefer a points system so much easier to work on, especially on our 90's and 110's
