ATC 70 Cam Chain tensioner help

The Honda manual makes no reference to the 2 types of tensioners used on this motor. I have the version to the right in the pic. The one on the left is an auto adjust, but it appears the one on the right is a manual adjuster. Anyone have any experience w/ this? How tight should the chain be, or do you just how to go by sound?

Loosen nut #25 and bolt #11 while the bike is in neutral and idling and it will self adjust , lock bolt #11 back down and then nut # 25 and your done . If the chain is still loose then it’s time for a new cam chain .

What about #12? This seems to also be an adjuster of some sort. There was some definite slack in the chain when I first removed the stator plate and started investigating the chain and tensioner. I put the tensioner back in, snugged #12 down, and all the slack is gone now. I'm afraid to just to tighten it as tight as I can go and then adjust #11 and #25 fasteners as mentioned.
