I’ve been pretty inactive on here for quite awhile...I think my last post was at least a year ago. Some of you may remember me or my build thread of my ‘85R. I pinged so many of you enlisting advice, help and general knowledge and y’all came through for me BIG TIME. That build was so much fun and what came of it was (in my opinion...magnificent). It was so beautiful that after the break-in runs, I couldn’t bring myself to ride it...it just sat in the garage. And I would just stare at it.

A year passed and I found a new toy...a Humvee. And that then took up all my time...and the faithful R just sat there. Then I sold the Humvee and bought a new toy...a RZR. And the R just sat there. Pretty soon, I started to think about selling the R... and then I did. I put it out there for what I thought was a ridiculous price (at the time) and it sold within the week. A guy drove five hours each way one night in the driving rain to snatch her up and give her a new home. Then she was gone.

Regret sat in about week two.

Then not a day went by that I didn’t wish that I still had that ‘85. I still had the survivor 350x, but that R meant so much to me...I shouldn’t have ever sold it.

About a 18 months ago, I found a neglected ‘83 R in Oklahoma and decided it needed a new home. So I snatched it up, gave her a thorough goin through and again had myself another R.

But it wasn’t enough... a few months later Yaegerb told me about an 85R that was about to be for sale and I decided I needed to have it too. What a sweet ride! Rob Mosher built it a few years ago and he did a fantastic job! I bought it from the guy who bought it from Rob and it’s still in great shape.

A few months ago, I ran across a pretty rough 85 250es Big Red and started in on cleaning her up. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s coming along nicely.

And then...two days ago I got a REALLY great call. The new owner of the 85R that I sold reached out to tell me that was thinking of selling it and wanted to know if was interested in buying it back. HELL YES I was. I had regretted that initial transaction for almost two years. So today, she finally came back home. FOR GOOD this time hahaha!

Haha, glad I live in the northern part of OK then....far enough away from you guys lol. I can see the OK deals and poach up into Kansas too haha.

Well, I say I can get the Oklahoma stuff....most of this Facebook marketplace stuff goes so doggone fast I don't know who gets it. I called on a nice 85 Big Red for $600 15 mins from my house...ad had been up for 8 mins!!! 8 MINUTES! And the dude already had someone on the way, beat me by like 3 minutes. It's insane.

Thanks! Last night, I realized that most of these were purchased as replacement therapy for the one I let get away. Oh well...now I just have more to stare at.

Glad you got your '85 back. Seller's remorse is the worst. I rarely get buyers remorse, and I never have "keepers remorse"! All your ATCs look like great pieces!

Haha that is really close to home with that big red location. You should’ve swung by and showed it off after you bought it. BTW that big red is looking good. What kinda shape was it when you picked it up?

Me too, you seemed to have a bit more time to respond and deal with the guy than Facebook. I'm actually going to look at 2 R's off Facebook this aft...we'll see what happens.

Very nice Humvee. Im just north of Tulsa. What did you all do to it?

It was actually a decent runner and pretty much all there. OEM plastics with no cracks and no major mechanical issues. Just a lot of cosmetic work so far.

Oh...it didn't have brake shoes in either drum and all three brake cables were frozen solid. I found NOS cables and did a brake job, so now I don't have to "Fred Flintstone" the stops anymore.
