Trusted Machine Shops - SE Michigan?

I'm trying to locate a machine shop to do the bore job on my 350x cylinder and valve job. Does anyone have first hand experience with any shops within 100 miles of Metro Detroit? I don't mind driving if the shop is trusted and proven to do good work. The last thing I want to do is ruin a cylinder or head due to a shop not knowing what they're doing.

Thanks for any leads you guys can provide.

If you don't find anyone local, I have a guy here in Oklahoma who does top notch work. Bore is $50, and he will grind valves and cut seats for $25/valve. You'd have to ship it, but he is 100% reliable and does excellent work.

Thank BarnBoy, I don't mind having to ship it so if I strike out here I'll follow up with you for the contact information of the shop.

I'm not sure what it's like there, but I did get ahold of one shop who said they are so busy it would be a month before even looking at it... Hopefully it is a bit less crazy in OK. On the other hand, maybe a busy shop is a sign they do good work.

Last time I had a cylinder at this guys shop, I dropped it off Monday and he called me Wednesday saying it was done. All the local powersports shops use him, he is getting older and works out of basically a 3 car garage shop at his house. Dont take that to mean he is a hack though, he has been doing this for 50+ yrs. I was pleasantly surprised to find out about him...you talk to anyone in the area and that's who they recommend. Great guy to deal with, and he will answer any of your questions.

His name is Bo Randy, at Performance First Racing in Broken Arrow, OK. He is who Sandtrax out of Tulsa uses for all their machine work, and they can probably deal with shipping etc easily, and there is no up-charge to go through them. https://www.sandtrax.com/services/

If you want to get in touch with Bo directly, PM me.

I didn't realize that Sandtrax is now out of Tulsa. The last I knew, I thought it was in Waynoka. Either way, if they use Bo, I wouldn't hesitate to use him either.

Yes sir they are. From what I understand they have been in Tulsa quite a while, but I dont know for sure. Either way, the guys there know their stuff. And Bo is a heck of a nice guy, you'd be hard pressed to find someone better IMO.
