    why is it......

when your bike, trike, car etc that you have for sale always starts right up except.....when you have someone come over to buy it?
happened again today. the 110 always start guy was on his way, I go to the shed, first pull and ride it around to the front. buyer shows up and it wouldn't start. knocked 100 bucks off the price and he took it anyway. ($400) it was worth more in parts but I need the room. happened with a yamaha gt80 buyer didn't buy it, but I got a 87 200x out of the deal.
I was going to trade a 110 atc for a beater 56 drag car roller in the 80s. it wouldn't start when the time came fkr the trade. jim

Sounds like NSS, or Nervous Seller Syndrome. It’s a condition of the nervous system that causes a seller to forget to turn the ON/OFF switch to the ON position when attempting to start and present a running vehicular to a potential buyer.

The trick to dealing with this is to invite the potential buyer to start the vehicle themselves. If it starts, awesome! Close the deal. If not, you can blame the buyer for messing up your vehicle that ALWAYS started on the first try before they touched it. If you lay it on thick enough they might feel bad and pay the asking price.

I had the 110 for over 10 years and it just sat, used it a few times with the kids camping, last time we rode it over a hour. I just decided to consolidate, ive got 3 185s trikes running. why not stick with 1 model to keep it simple.
The Gt80 I had always started, buyer came by to get it, he tells me they planned on gutting and stripping it so his kid could learn to ride. It wouldn't start for him, after he left, it started first kick. The guy that ended up with it showed me his collection of restored bikes, the Gt80 was his first bike and he really wanted it, he offered 2 87 200x atcs, the bike started right up for him. I gave him a beautiful dt100 along with the gt80 for the trikes. jim

Clearly, it did not want to leave you.

When that happens it is 9 times out of 10 the spark plug. Old Hondas love new plugs.

I was going to throw a plug in, but the buyer had to meet someone and was in a rush. I got a little more space in the garage so all it good. jim
