I think those trail numbers may be true mechanical trail, rather than the false trail that most of us use. False trail is a little bit longer.

False trail can be physically measured from the vertical axle centerline to the ground to the stem centerline to the ground.

Mechanical trial is measured at a RIGHT angle from the stem angle at the ground to the vertical axle centerline.

I really don't know why there is 2 ways other than one is a physical measure and the other is more of a mathematical equation. I do know that engineers use the mechanical when designing frame and steering geometry. So if the information above was taken from some kind of factory literature I would assume its from the engineers.

The more you get into steering geometry the more confusing it gets.

So project is moving slowly, keep getting laid off so I've been bouncing around for work. But I just got a great gig that should last for several months so I've got some cash to get moving along now!

So I got this banshee rear for a pretty decent deal, so i bought a new vito performance shock. So the next step is cut and weld the head tube and then I can set the rear up!

I'm excited to get going on this again!

Weird..... the website won't let me upload pictures. Just says upload failed... well I may just have to link the videos as i put them out.

I finally got the banshee swingarm. Looks like it'll go in after some chopping, the bearings are identical to the bike bearings so I'll be able to use the bike swingarm bolt easily! Should go together great.

I also got the head angle modified which im also very happy with. Came out at 21.4 degrees which works for me. Wish I could post pictures!

After some mental debates I've decided im going to use a 250r tank, seat, and fenders. If you compare the riding position on the modern conversions the rider sits further back and higher than a 250r. I ran into this on my xt550 conversion as well. The reach for the handlebars felt too long, and I'm 6'4". I have a few great screenshots that illustrate this perfectly but again..... no pictures.....

I'll get a video made and posted on YouTube soon

Easiest way to post pics is use Tap A Talk app to post here...

Still can't figure out the pictures. Used to work just fine for me. I've tried the app but it's pretty clunky and invasive. Anyways, here's the update video

Looks good and you make it look easy! More people need to do the same thing on their conversion. Curious to see how you make the banshee singwarm work in there.

Yes, I forgot about that part. It looks like you were inspired by Ichiban Moto.

Hey all! Project's not dead, just on the back burner. But I'm bringing her back up to the front at a simmer. Got a banshee swing in rough enough shape I don't feel bad cutting it up. Tracking down a set of rear wheels and I'll have it far enough to get the new rear shock mount built. Excited to be working on this one again!

I found the perfect tank to use for this build. It's a 87 yz125 tank. The angle meets up on the 85 250r seat instead of the high and skinny angle most bikes have. Got a few more parts to buy and I can start building the shock mount and sub frame!
