Man, with luck like that, you'd better buy some lottery tickets NOW! Be careful. With me, a quick rip around the yard turns into a little down the street, next "I can go this much farther", and finally "why an I out here riding this unsafe vehicle with no brakes at top speed and how did I lose a hour?"

congrats! buy a poweball ticket this week!. I know about building to sell vs owning a keeper. when I got my 350x, I quickly ordered new plastics and seat cover. Keeper types of machines deserve to be nice. jim

Thanks guys, I'm glad you liked it. Everything looks to be original and complete. The only issue I can see is the bolt threads holding the sprocket on were galled up. I took my time 2 hours to be exact to re tap it. Its fine now. I think that may have been the reason they parked it. We will see. Waiting on parts now.
    Thank you all.

Awesome show last night! This is going to be a most excellent set of videos. I saw that it is being viewed a lot. I have not seen very many (if any) videos on resurrecting an 86 250R so this might be good!! Congratulations!

    Thanks Patriot1,
I really just lucked into it. I would have bought it, even if it was an 85 and been just as happy.
Its really is a bucket list type bike for me, I really never thought I would have a liquid cooled R. I have cut my teeth on all the 4 strokes,
Kinda' paying my dues, I guess. I was thinking about it. In the last 2 years I have owned 1 of every model except the 110cc and 90cc. I have passed on a couple 110's cause they are hard to resell, and I have not found a 90 near by.
I think my buying days are behind me now, I have the bikes I have always wanted, I am going to use the Youtube channel the build them back up. Not showroom new or all original, but nice rider quality.
I may even sell a few to fund this new direction, but I am pretty happy with the selection I have now.
Again Thank you all for supporting the channel, and I hope, I have given you some entertainment in return.

Awesome, the fact that it's all there is pretty significant, and cool. Not sure what I can offer, but I just went through my '85 a couple years ago, so most of it is still pretty fresh in my mind, lol.

    Thanks for the offer Jasong_10
I just order a ton of parts, should be everything I need to get it up running, riding and stopping safely.
Beyond that, my goal is to keep it on a budget. I'm going to try and save the plastics that's on it, I have some 22 inch hole shots for it. We will see. This is just phase one. Getting it dependable, pretty will come in time.
I really want to put it up against my 350x, that's going to be fun.
    Thanks again,

Your correct Jim, I have not. My 350x was a 50 footer when I bought, never having one, there were things I didn't see. Since buying it I have been steady dumping money in it, it still needs a lot of work.
Its a pain to start when cold, I need to go through it, that will be next after the 250r gets up and dependable. I gave a fair price for it, in its condition, I'm not complaining. I just need to focus on it.

My goal now that I have the R is to focus on the top tier bikes, may be flip a hardtail here and there but, they no longer interest me like they once did.

I was as excited getting my 350x as you were getting your 250r, I know the feeling of finding the unicorn. I thought about just keeping the 350x 70 and 2 of the 185s (titled with ohv stickers). But the 3 wheeler gods decided to punish me and blessed me with 3 more 185s projects, 2 200s projects. You can't fix them all but it sure is fun trying too. I think I mentioned it in another post. locally the 185 200s trikes are more common. I don't see as many big reds as you guys back east seems to. maybe it's the reds we're bought as farm implements and around here it's wide open deserts to go ride? Looking forward to your 250r build, maybe I'll luck into another someday. jim

Better start looking nationwide and be ready to drive...the top tier bikes are out there but not like they once were. And they go fast when they appear. If you're doing that R, do it right. Like all these old 2 strokes I'm sure it'll need a crank (crankworks in AZ is pretty good) and new bottom end bearings, seals, etc. Sure you may dump 5k into it but it'll still be worth much more! Looking forward to what comes next

I think I did not explain myself very well. I meant I have the top models now the 250r, 350x, 200x, I want to focus on making them better or improving them. I do not want to get into trading with the big boys, that's above my pay grade. lol

"order a ton of parts" - that has to be my favorite line to read in a post. I can understand the budget, just as long as pretty comes along some day, lol. I can't speak to the 350x myself, but from what I hear from my father-in-law who owned my 250r before me and had friends with 350x's, the R was the king of the day.
