    1986 350X Fender Decals

Can anyone confirm if the 86 350X actually came from the factory with the black triangular decals like the 85 had? The ones I'm talking about are the ones that show the chain tension and tire pressures.

I know the official brochure photos show them, but sometimes the brochure doesn't match reality:

It seems like many of the pics of 86 machines I see don't have them, and I always wonder if those that have them are just from people putting them on themselves. The machine I just got didn't have them and I didn't really see any outline or difference in the color of the plastic that you might expect if the decal was there for a long time and then removed.

I think the easy answer is, yes they did come as pictured on the brochure. I guess I'd just like to hear it from somebody who knows for sure.

    Thanks all!

I'm going with no. I've seen them on original unmolested 85 fenders but not on 86 fenders. But there could have been some. I've just not seen them and I've seen a lot of original 350x's here in Arizona.

I got my 86 off the original owner and it does not have the side decals on it, nor are there any remnants of decals ever being there. I bought a set of the repro decals you pictured but did not put them on.

As far as the brochures are concerned, the images are taken pre-production, so things are not always 100 percent the same. For instance, if you look at the 86 200x brochure, it has the cast aluminum center 350x style wheels that never made it to the actual production bike in the USA. Although, the Canadian bikes supposedly got them.

For the Maier fenders, there are a different set of decals that will fit here:

thanks for the link! I trimmed my stickers to sort of make them fit. I'll just order these and toss the butchered stickers in the trash. The panel just needs something to break up all the white. jim

Yea, that's what I was thinking. Thanks for confirming from your experiences. I'm with you, if they weren't on your machine when you got it with no signs of them ever being there as was the case with mine, I'm going with them not having been there from the factory. I know I'm getting mine as a very old machine, but all the other stickers were still there (at least pieces were).

    Thanks!

Time to order up the other fender decals (but not the triangles...).
