Picked up a stripped down commuter, help

How does the front wheel come off , I haven't had a good amount of time to play around with it but just looks odd. Sorry if this is a newbie question 😅

I haven't been able to find an up close picture so I'm going to wing it. It appears that you have to remove a nut from one side of the front axle and pull the axle out of the other side. Then the front wheel should come off. There's probably some spacers on either side on the axle so pay attention to how they go on so you can get them put back on right.
