    Greetings from Green Bay, WI

    Hello Everyone,

Thank you to the Moderators for creating this site.

My family operates "Spoiled Kids State Forest." SKSF sits on wetland about a mile from the Western Shore of the Bay of Green Bay in a little town called Pensaukee.

A long time ago, (late 1970's) I started BEGGING my parents for a 3 wheeler. Dad finally settled on a Yamaha 225 DX that he bought for $1500.00 used from someone west of town.

I LOVED THAT TRIKE! I named her Maxine. ( As an avid Stephen King reader, I had just finished Christine)

Maxine and I rode all over. Managed NOT to kill myself, but did have more than one run-in with a tree or off-camber hillside... the deadliest part of these wonderful toys.

Maxine and I were inseparable... until I got my drivers license... and started driving.

Maxine was given to my Uncle Steve, who lived south of Lake Superior; and Maxine served him very well. Uncle Steve was a no BS kind of guy. Along the way, Maxine's front tire was replaced with something wider, causing wear on her front shocks. A few more body cracks appeared, and the seat was pretty beat up.

Uncle Steve passed away, and Maxine has been retired to the machine shed at SBSF, where she spends her time resting beside a few Ford 8N and 9N tractors, a Massey-Harris Narrow front 55, a big Kubota tractor and a New Holland skid steer that still smells of Cow Manure. I was able to start her up ( pull start) a number of years ago.

My wife was suggesting the other day that I find a new hobby. I think i am just going to rekindle an old flame.

Looking forward to the busted knuckles and time spent searching for a 10mm wrench. Greetings and Salutations to all the newbies, gear heads, weekend warriors, & master rebuilders on the board... Pictures when I can find them...

Found out through use of this group that I have a 1984 DXL. Pulled the fenders, Fuel Tank, Air Box, and Carb. Throttle completely stuck... carb cleaner made it function enough to loosen the cable, but my first Carb rebuild should be exciting. Family of mice have consumed the air filter. I see the choke lever is busted. Seat and fenders in good shape, after a good cleaning. Forgot to take pictures before the fenders came off, but the rebuild is underway!

Just so that you're aware, they don't sell a carb rebuild kit for a YTM225. You just have to use one for a Timberwolf and use the 225 jets. Everything will work with either carb.

Carb needs some tuning, but I did laps around the cabin.

    Done so Far:
Tore down, cleaned and re-assembled Carb
Tore down, cleaned and re-assembled Air Box with new Filter cage and filter. ( had to salvage old plastic cap )
    New Battery

Need to do: Oil Change, Choke Lever, Handgrips, Tune Carb, Tank Petcock, Neutral Light, Brakes, Replace Front Hand Brake lever, headlight housing.
