Atc 200x 83-85 rear axle upgrade options

    Hi all,

Looking to upgrade the rear axle on my 200x.

    I’ve heard 82 250r will fit or 300ex?

I’m in Australia so local parts are far and few between. I just want the most cost effective way to make it work. Machining and wedding/fab is not an issue to make it happen.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Cheers

    82 r fit bolt in

300ex fits but swinger must be modifed since its a good 1/2 wider between bearing surfaces. Also nothing rear brake mounts up or chain unless you can fab new conversions.

    I've done both.
    Hreatv has done both
Most wont spend $500-600 on a rear but you will spend that for a durablue 82 r axle anyway.

Swinger carrier bearings are the same between 200x and 300ex...all the hondas are. I had ran all the part numbers before my swap.

The one i liked the best was 300ex but unless you can crunch # over come challenges....stay away.

It's not bolt in go ride

I got away from 200xs due to all the dump obsolete crap every time redoing one oem axles are always bent.

last 4 pics are 1982 atc250r durablue axle, I had a trx450r rear caliper on the +1.5" swinger I had built. HREatv.com can build you this if needed.

Thanks mate I will look into it. Looks like I’ll go for 82r axle and possibly just fab up a bracket to run a newer/better brake caliper. I have a brembo caliper off a Ktm here I could use.

I have an '83 200x with a '98 KDX220 engine in it, I also have a few other ATC's/ATV's/Dirt bikes including a '04 TRX450r and a '01 400ex and I have noticed that the share a lot of compatible parts so I am deciding on installing a extended TRX450r axle in the rear and all I need to do it is run some 40x62x24 bearings and I should be good! I will make sure to get some before/after pictures when its done. I also have a 400ex rear brake caliper on it.
