Evening folks. Was wondering if you all could help a fellow gear head out? I got this go cart frame and Honda engine on it from the local FB page. The thing has been abused to say the least. When I got it, it had a bunch of romex hardwiring the system straight to the battery. Hots were hooked to grounds, grounds to hots. It was a mess. I ripped it all out.

I found the engine code: TB05E-5306870, it says it is a 1985 Honda 200M. I matched this up to the wiring diagrams on this page and most things line up and make sense, but I have a descrepency with the alternator and the voltage regulator.

I have a 4 wire regulator on this machine (I know it might not orginally be from the trike) 2 yellow wires, green and red. The diagram for a 85 200M has a 5 wire. The 84 has a 4 wire.

The alternator has 3 wires coming out. Yellow, green and black with red. The wiring diagram says I am supposed to have 2 yellow wires and a black wire in both 84 and 85 motors.

Can anyone help me figure out this discrepancy with the alternator wiring? I have hooked up the one yellow wire from the alternator to one of the two yellow wires on the voltage regulator. I believe the black and red from alternator goes to black and red on the ignition unit and green from the alternator to green on CDI, green on ingition module, green on regulator, then to frame?

What does the second yellow go to on the regulator?
What do the green and black with red go to from the alternator?

I believe everything else kind of makes sense on the wiring.

This is tough to word out so please feel free to have me clearify.

Thank you in advance
