Is this worth buying (honda powered tri z)

Scrolling through FB market place I saw a machine that caught my attention. it is a 1985 tri z, but has a Honda 600 Hurricane engine in it. it is supposedly street legal too. I can get it for 600 or so. Never heard of the Hurricane before, so don't know anything about the engine. Frame appears to stretched to fit the engine. If anything, I think I can fit any engine I want into it. always wanted a tri z, but not a fan of that eraClick image for larger version.

My opinion is that you'd have to really want it. While it looks cleaner than most swap like this do, it's now a much heavier machine than the original Tri Z was. It won't handle as well due to the extra weight. It also would need some pretty serious suspension work to make it ride even close to the way the stock one did. In my opinion, if you wanted a drag trike, a dune trike, or a trike to fly up and down your local dirt roads on, then this would be a good candidate. Otherwise, I'd leave it alone. I learned about Frankentrikes (and quads) years ago. Here's the one that my step brother owned for about 24 hours. Second gear went out in the transmission so the seller got it back.Click image for larger version.

Jesus Hitler Christ. FB must be a terrible place.

Which brand of clothes hanger did they use to weld that?

I hate when people do this to toys. IDK why people think street bike motors make sense. They never do, they never seem finished. I'd buy it for a few bucks to part it or use anything not rigged for a build. Besides that it's a dreamers yard riding machine.

It depends, if you're up for the challenge of restoring and upgrading it then get it.

Honda, Hurricane 600 was a 4 cylinder sport bike made back in the late 80's. Don't know what your financial situation is like but $600 for almost any trike is a deal. I'm sure there's probably more than $600 in parts.

I looked at it and passed on it. it needs more than i want to deal with. Still want a tri z, but they cost too much for my budget currently.
