    1985 250r cdi

    Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has used the Chinese replacement cdi units for the 1985 Atc250r that are sold on eBay, it seems to fit a lot of different models and also 4 strokes. Just wondering how the bike performs when these units are installed and if there is any noticeable difference to the oem part. Also if anyone has a 85 oem cdi (working) that they might be willing to part with let me know, I do have a US postal address and PayPal.
    Thanks Aussie Greg.

Hi Greg, I have used the chinese cdi's on my other atc's but not on my 250R, I had very good results, and it is so cheap so it was worth the experiment. They don't last as long as the OEM ones, so buy a few. It also depends on how much you ride. Just note that some CDi's are AC and some DC, make sure you buy the correct one.

    Hi deejaycee,
    That is one nice collection,
Thanks for the feedback, This bike has been sitting in the shed for approximately 10years since I bought it and has never been ridden. Therefore I wouldn’t know if the bike was performing as it should when the aftermarket part was fitted.
I might take your advice and give one a go and in the mean time I hope some more feedback may be forthcoming to enlighten me on their performance to an oem part.
    Thanks Greg

    Hi Shortline,
Thanks for the reply, not the feedback I was hoping for but it was what I expected. I have seen the electrical tails to convert the wiring plug to the 86. It looks like I have two options source a second hand 85 oem CDI or convert the plug to accept an 86 Oem / aftermarket CDI.
Not sure what is the best option, love to hear from other members who have any thoughts or anyone who has a 85 oem CDI they are willing to part with.
    Thanks Aussie Greg

Well I tried the Chinese CDI ( that fits every Honda made) I can now confirm Shortline10 statement that I have also not seen a Chinese CDI work properly on a 250r.
