    Got the header painted today.

I personally do not like VHT exhaust paint but it was on sale at O'reilly's for $11.99 so I got it. I thought I had some Por-15 but I can't find it so for now.....it's VHT.

    Previous $1572
    Paint. + $13

    Total. $1585

I also used some stainless hex head fasteners with some anti-seize on the heat shield......... to give the next guy a fighting chance.

    Thank you shortline.

This muffler will be a cleanup and scratch n spray. Nothing fancy.

The header I let soak in acid...only to leave the metal pitted after soaking. This time my intention is to clean it all up...decrease and a good scrub down. Then a light sanding with a final acid wipe...then the VHT.

Got some NH-24 ceramic white for the tank today.

They had the code on file.....no problem. I just had them mix me a spray can.....It will be base clear.

Don't know if I'm going to go "all out" on this tank or just do a "scratch n spray". I'm leaning towards the latter.

    $1585 previous balance
    + $27 for the base

    = $1612 new balance.

I've given up on my old plastics and am committed to Maiers. I need the decals and the seat cover, etc... but I'm feeling good about my new $2500 budget.

Besides all this....nothing is going on with this project. I need to find some time for this.

Got the header painted today. No real progress for the last 2 months...... interest is dwindling.

I let the lower part of the muffler sit in some acid...that was it's most rusted area. The clamp was pitted bad too but it will do.

Another $18 for the gasket for a grand total of $1630. $1630 Spent and all I have are parts scattered about. I really need to start assembling things so I don't go batty...... Even if it's little by little it would make me feel better.

Assembly would probably help with the lack of interest.

When you have it back together, you'll have a nice stock muffler on it to enjoy.

It's so nice to ride around on something quiet, which is a little tougher anymore because a good used OE muffler is difficult to find and rather expensive.

Can you even count on both hands and feet how many butchered OE mufflers you've seen?

I'm hoping it will idle better as well.

I remember I couldn't get it to idle well (if at all) without taping up the holes someone drilled in the airbox lid. It would idle then eventually die. When I taped it up it would hold an idle. I'm hoping the stock exhaust will improve things as I know small displacement honda motors are sensitive to intake and maybe exhaust changes/modifications/etc..

350 is correct.....I'm going to start assembling things....even if it's one or 2 things as I have time for.

Most guys think more air is better and can, not jet anything. There are 3 aspects of a any build. The build of its chassis, the build of its motor and jetting the motor to run correctly, not just run.

    Maybe it'll help.

I know I don't like opening up the air box simply because I like the filter staying cleaner, longer. I'm also a bit tired of spending the time tuning things instead of riding. The closer to stock, the better. It's enough effort just keeping multiple vehicles maintained.

It's like tuning something on 93 E0 fuel (or higher) then going somewhere where only 89 E10 is available. Tune it for the lowest grade fuel it may have to run and live with it. A partial work-around for that is a programmable ignition with dual maps, and even better, include throttle position sensor and manifold pressure inputs. It'll still have to be tuned, extensively, to get the most out of it.

There's the rabbit hole. Rock it stock.

One 110 I have came with a pod filter on it. All the intake and air box parts were missing. I hunted those all down and bought them. It's the later 110, with the removable lid on the box. It got rode with the junk pod filter and I think the damage had already been done. Probably got hot from too lean of jetting and ingested a helping of silica cylinder polishing compound.

It's a small bore machine, there are larger bore machines which could be a better power upgrade if needed. Fun can be 12hp too, most of us forget that riding is fun, it does not need to be a hp race to bash a tree

I think some of us get caught up in that more HP is everything.....just get a bigger rig.

On a different note I have an email to Musket Mufflers inquiring on the exhaust for a 200X....just the muffler portion. I couldn't get the internals apart on mine......it's not all that important but if the price is right....

I agree with the less power can be fun line of thinking. I have a 350X that doesn't get ridden very often. I enjoy riding the smaller displacement, less powerful machine more. I also like to keep mine close to stock. I enjoy riding my 250SX or ES in places where people think that you need a bigger, more powerful machine with more wheels, front wheels that pull, a computer to run things, and even let two people sit beside each other to go. I got a HUGE thrill riding my 250ES to over 12,700' in Colorado a few years back. It was a pretty steep climb at the top and my jetting got to be too rich maybe 1/3 of the way up that climb. First gear and higher RPM pulled me to the top though.

I made an adapter from 200x to 400ex slip on muffler for mine.
