where did the cheap knobbies go?

I need to get my 200s project up on three tires. 158 bucks plus tax on ebay seems to be the best price I could find? I understand inflation and all that, but where else is people getting new rubber at?
I found a guy parting a 125m but didn't want to deal with old hard tires. jim

Tire prices went up seemingly overnight about 8-10 years ago. There was some rubber price increase or other BS excuse and the prices never came back down.

Kind of like a lead shortage and batteries had a huge jump in prices several years back.

Prices for a lot of things haven't had a gradual increase, they've had huge jumps.

Not only are the prices higher, but some of the better tire choices aren't even available anymore. The biggest problem is being smaller than avertised (sneaky way for them to save money).

One of my pet peves is people complaining about trike and parts prices anymore. Not pointed towards you exclusively, but this isn't a poor person's hobby anymore. This is a collectors hobby now. I'm still rolling them over and tearing them up though.

it's like playing with chevelles, prices just got stupid. Glad I got my 66 and 70 when I could afford them. For someone that doesn't have a pile of spare parts, it's cheaper to buy a decent running complete trike vs trying to bringing them back from the dead. The 200s with new tires and seat, ill probably have about 300 to 350 into it. The suspended 185s is another 200 to 250 dollar trike but I don't have a seat yet. I'm thinking of posting my other suspended 185s frame locally to trade for a 185s seat so I can complete that trike. that still leaves me with a 185s and another 200s without plastics or seats. jim

The real kick in the pants is they don't even have the D.O.T. certification expenses attached to them.
