    Just found a YT175 with a Pro-Tec swingarm kit…and it followed me home. Questions….

Hey all! Been inactive here for a while (Have not owned a trike in roughly 8 years) but while on FB marketplace I stumbled across this. It’s a basket case but all parts seem to be accounted for. Needs a top end for sure, and more than likely a bottom end as well. Trans supposedly is good. But…..it has a (dirty) mostly intact Pro-Tec swingarm kit on it. It was listed for $500 over two months ago and it didn’t sell. The ad said obro so I figured there was wiggle room. I offered $300 and they took it. Yes I know, it’s rough for the price…but the protec kit makes it worth it to me. And trike prices seem to be out of control right now.

The questions: Can anyone tell me if my new to me pro-tec kit is complete? I think its missing a cable. And is that the correct brake linkage? Looks pretty hack. And finally, looking for opinions on weather it would be better rebuild this machine or get another cleaner YT175 and swap over the swingarm stuff (polish it too, hehe).

PS, anyone have an aftermarket pipe for one of these?

    Thanks

Sorry ahead of time, I have not had a chance to clean it. But that muck is actually oily muck. The metal underneath is pretty damn nice! Including the steel.

Here are the pictures from the ad. Oddly enough, only the very last pictures showed it had the swingarm on it and it was not mentioned anywhere in the description. I’m not even sure they knew what it was. Note the green California registration sticker on it from 83’. Gotta wonder how this thing ended up in NH sitting in someone’s backyard.

Whether you rebuild this trike or try to find a different one is up to you. I do think that you made a good buy since it has the ProTec on it.
