Hi Just got what i believe is a 1985 ytz250, trying to verify by VIN number but it seems to not exist. 53K-000261 is stamped on neck & engine. Does anyone have any info on 53K? Thanks.

I don’t know anything about the Vin number sequencing, but just in front of the kick starter on your cases is a serial number. If it starts with 38W it’s an 85. Unless someone really went out of their way to disguise an 86 as an 85 that’s what you have.

Upon further invesigation, I found that the 53K is the VIN for 1985 Japanese released models which were also sold in Australia, yes its definitely an 1985 YTZ250N
