When is a tire considered old

I am curious what people consider a tire to be old? I have a tire from either 1994 or 1984. Carlisle dirt boss, new old stock. That's old to me, but I hav been told ATX tires can last 20 years if cared for. They are not subject to the stress of a car tire.

I suppose each person has their own opinion on this.
I still have the original tires on 5 of my Hondas (1983-1986).
I'd consider them old, but they still hold air and serve their purpose.

Some might consider me old, but I still work pretty well (most days).

If they start getting weather checked and/or cracked, I say it's time to get rid of them.

Its dangerous to have old tires on a car/suv or truck. 10 years is the max with a recommended replacement of 6 years regardless of wear

Good luck finding a date code on non-DOT tires. Some off-highway tires may have one, but it's not a certainty.

typically, in my mind they are old when they are over 10 years old. after that, they are for display purposes only. if you're actively riding then you need good fresh rubber. tires are cheap compared to medical bills these days. a tire that blows out on you in mid ride under hard cornering is dangerous.

A garage Queen museum piece? Never as long as they play the part.
After working in a tire shop in high school/ college my rule is 5 years or bald Wich ever came first. Manufacturers will not warranty anything even a clear defect after five years. This is for dot tires of course.
On a daily rider atv? Probably the same rule maybe a little more time depending on weather conditions and where / how you store them
