honda '83 200 vs '84 200 rear axle, swappable?

I have an 84 Honda atc 200es with a bend in the rear axle. I also have an 83 200e with a straight axle. I know the 83 is chain drive, and the 84 is shaft. Are the bare stripped down axles the same? I'd like to put the straight 83 axle on the 84. Thanks!

I may be wrong on this, but I doubt it. The chain drive axle would have drive splines toward the left side for the sprocket. The shaft drive would have them centered for the diff gears.
