    Points Ignition!!

    https://ibb.co/RTSR95m

When turning over the engine, i'm hearing a solid clicking behind the cover. My other two running Honda 110's do not do this...anyone have any insight on what it could be?

Purchased this machine as "needing the points timed/adjusted". It's got no spark but great compression (130psi). Just wanted to verify what the sound is before attempting to time this thing or taking it somewhere to get timed.

Are your sure it’s not a loose timing chain ?

It should still spark even if the timing chain was excessively loose. Would just be out of time.
With your compression numbers it would seem things are at least to a minimal extent, working there. Pull the cover and have a look. Could be an incorrect set of points hitting the flywheel, etc. Check the harness connections and clean everything up, ohm the coil, and swap out the CDI if you have a spare.

    Obviously you’ve never worked on a 1980 model atc110 lol .
Please stop giving him poor advice !
This model doesn’t have a CDI , points are up top by the camshaft not by the flywheel .
9 times out of 10 is an excessively loose timing chain causing the noise .
As far as the spark he will have to test the coil / condenser , points and stator . It’s a very simple setup .

I tried the pull the timing chain cover and for the life of it it would not budge, guess i'll need a bigger .

Will be testing the coil and stator this week!

So upon further investigation I can't get the points ignition to click or "snap". Does that mean the external cam lobe is worn out?

Does anyone see anything out of the ordinary? Turning the motor over no matter which adjustment will not yield me any opening of the points.

The adjustment is in the points screws . Set them at top dead center TDC to .016 gap .
