    1983 ATC 200X Axle

Hi was hoping someone can confirm for me.
I've read that the 83-85 axles are the same, and can be used interchangeably.

Is this true? I have an 83 200x I finally got running. Took it on it's first test run and the left side of the axle is bent.

I've found an 85 for a decent price so wanted to ask the expert's.

    Thanks

Yes all axle the same from 83-85 200x just a different swingarm. Also 81-82 250r axle will fit.

Been the same for 39years so far. I'd not buy a used OEM 200x axle. All are worn out by now. Spring for durablue 82 250R axle which is a better drop in replacement.

    81 250r axle will not work in a 200x.

Found an 81 250r and bought the sprocket for it.
I'm just looking to put it around for right now.
For the original, I did a little "do not try this at home" work on it and it's decent.

I'll see if I can make it work, otherwise I'll put it back up on ebay and start saving up for the durable.

I got the original pressed by a mechanic then perfected it using a board a bottle jack and a trucker chain at home.

Now I know how to remove the seals and bearings, got new ones and a new collar coming as well.

Enough to get it putting around the neighborhood

It's definitely an adventure getting these back up to spec.

It’s been a long time but I believe with a spacer the 81 axle will work .
I think I just used an enlarged axle nut as a spacer .

Thanks for the info, its coming in this week so I'll see.
While I was waiting I decided to clean up the exhaust and broke a exhaust stud, luckily have some thread left so now waiting on an extractor and new studs. So now have some more stuff to fix.

Found a like new 85 axle complete hub to hub. Not even a pipe wrench mark on the retaining nuts. Perfect fit.

Just picked up a 85 auto-x axle was bent took a 25 lb beat on it for like 15 minutes you can barely tell it bent now.
