    250sx wiring question

86 250sx. Not getting ground all the way to the neutral light socket. Neutral switch ohms out good. The harness oms out up the the 2 wire box that the wiring schematic calls a rectifier. Then it oms good on the other side of the rectifier all the way to the socket. I am no electricity expert but don't understand a true rectifier being on the ground wire. I thought the went on the power wire. What is the function? Can I jump it and be safe? Why dosen't the 250es which has almost exactly the same wiring/elec system have one?

Not knowing that trike specifically, I have a question or two:
    - What leg of the stator feeds that specific system OR does it feed from a primary (rectified) circuit?
    - Does that system have a common ground buss or is the ground fed through an additional circuit(s)?
The reason I ask is that back 1980’s, Honda used both 4, 5, and 7 wire central rectifiers. I’ve used several on Suzuki motorcycles and the 5 and 7-wire rectifiers had the ability to ‘sense’ the total load on the system and shunt-to-ground the excess voltage. If your 250SX has a different primary rectifier (and it is possible/likely) as the trikes lagged behind the bikes back then w/regard to their electrical systems, you may have a failed circuit path within the primary or secondary rectifier(s).
Typically a second rectifier within a given system was used to correct voltage variables resultant from limited primary rectifiers. The later Honda machines came with the BEST R/R’s made by any manufacturers. I suspect your 250SX has a hybrid system implemented to burn up access inventory from the motorcycle lines and it is possible your secondary rectifier has a failed internal terminal lead.

I’m not an Electrical Engineer though I do hold a few certs.

Hope this helps you hunt things down.

Well on closer inspection, the wiring diagram calls it a rectifier but it is actually a diode. Later schematics actually call it a diode. Looks like it is good but I have issues on the connector.
