Long story short couldn’t get the keihin to stop overflowing ,so I bought a striker 38 carb off of eBay and never got it in . Seller still claims it was on back order, so I called sudco and they told me I couldn’t get stock keihin carb and that all I could get get was a mikuni 34 mm. Question is I’m not familiar with Mikuni will I have to change throttle cable ,their both round slide and what jet sizes do I need to start out with . bike is stock I’ve tried to order two keihin carbs with no luck just trying to get back riding.

I would not run a mikuni , a lot harder to jet .
A keihin 34-38mm with a 170 main and your good to go , sometimes you have to play with the needle but way easier than trying to dial in a mikuni .
Here is a 35mm in stock at a decent price .

I'm using a Mikuni TMX 38 from a 01 cr 250r. I rejetted it and put a S-7 emulsion tube in it works great on my 83 250r.
250r rules
I have had Keihin and Mikuni carbs on my R. Generally, I'd say the Keihins are easier to tune--more of a set and forget carb. The Mikunis can be temperamental. You could get a new 34 mm Keihin oval slide from Sudco, the kind that came stock on the 86 250R. If you are looking to go bigger, a 38mm, I'd recommend the Keihin PWK first and then the Mikuni TMX. I currently have a 38 TMX on my 86. I'd stay away from the Mikuni TM. There is only one machine I've gotten it to work halfway decent on.
Thanks I’ll try and send this mikuni back to sudco and get a Keihin . I thought I’d ask here about opinions before I put it on. Didn’t know anything about Mikuni carbs
I’ll have to try eBay again Sudco doesn’t have any Keihin carbs at all for the r

Beware cheap Keihins on ebay--they are Chinese knock-offs.
Got my 35 mm pwk Stryker in. What throttle cable do I need , mine is the one with the top built on it. Do I need to start with 170 main like short line suggested. Thanks
