    Four To Three Wheel Conversion

So we've all seen the 3 to 4 wheel conversion abominations, how about a 4 to 3? This TRX200 fell in my lap a while back, true barn find, ratty as can be. I noticed once I stripped all the smashed plastic off that the frame on these looks a lot like an ATC with a big dorky 4 wheel front end tacked on. If you told me it was a conversion and not factory Honda I'd have believed it, kinda weird VW bug-ish trailing arm stuff.

Then I found a 200x front end hanging off a cobbled together trike conversion someone had done on a Kawasaki Concours. Zipped the whole head tube off the Kawi thing since it had decent bearings and it'd save me time over trying to hack the stock stem tube on the TRX. Today I laid into it with the sawzall and grinder to create this. I guess I'll call it a 200SX since it's kinda sport-utilty now. I need to wrangle up a tank and finish up the odds and ends (Like maybe bolt that front axle in) but I think it's going well for a couple hours hacking.

From what I can see, it doesn't look too bad. It will be interesting to see what it looks like with the tank, seat, and plastics all on.

The front tires from the 4 wheeler look like they could be the originals from honda. You might want to sell those. Some collector is probably looking for a set.

Snagged one of those plastic tanks off eBay that they claim fits every ATC200 ever, fits the mission here better than using up a good OEM tank. Not sure how much plastic it's gonna end up having, rear fenders are big money or they're far away and big money to ship. Lot of competition for ATC parts on the local classifieds keeps them pretty empty. It's gonna get a seat and a tank for now, if I find fenders later on I'll make em work.

No such luck, good set of tires but they're Carlisle replacements. This quad was kinda weird, its like one previous owner really cared about it (new tires, tank has been lined etc...) and the next one really just beat the snot out of it, it's been wrecked real hard at least once. That's why it didn't bother me a bit to cut it up.

I've used plastic from a newer Honda 4 wheeler on a couple trikes. Ill look for a pic of one.

I recently cut up a TRX200 and put a Kawasaki KLT165???front end on it, I'd like to get into my shop and finish it but it got to damn cold.

Here's one. I think they are 400ex plastics.

Those 400 fenders look good, not all pointy like the newer 400/450s. There's a company in Oregon that sells blemished Maier products, some of the rear fenders get cheap enough to almost be worthwhile. Gonna keep an eye out for those.

Looks like someone put the 400 plastic on a 200s.

Thats my daughters 200s. I have since swapped those fenders with an identical set, only white. Some trimming and fitting necessary but better than trail riding without rear fenders!

Been fooling with this thing after work this week. Bought the cheapest set of 200ES fenders I could find on eBay, they're rough but I know I'll be cutting on them anyway, wasn't gonna pay for a nice set. 2 holes line up on the TRX frame so mounting them will be easy, just need to drill a couple holes and add a couple tabs. Universal eBay ATC tank, I need to finish mounting it but it's mostly in its home.

Made a fairly hokey seat, I didn't have anything for reference when I made it, it's taller than it should be but it is comfy

I've had this ES trunk on the bike since I got it, guy that hauled the quad to me just grabbed everything out of the barn that looked related to the machine and apparently there were some Big Red scraps laying around. Now that I know where the fenders are going to sit I can section it to match. The shock on the TRX occupies the space where the front section would be on an ATC.

Decided to just slide the fenders back, turned out that with the fenders lined up to the trunk lid they also centered way better on the rear tires.
