a doh! moment!
as I'm trying to downsize, theres a atc70 motor, exhaust and air cleaner for sale. plan is to put rings and valves in it, swap it into my 85 atc70. So I grab the motor, spin it by the flywheel and there's a little compression. Check the valves and there's a little play so the valves are seating. go to grab a drill and 17mm socket, check the nut on the crank to verify the nut size.........someone sheared the end off and drilled the end of the crank!
So 50 bucks for a boat anchored. I've got a good head, cylinder, flywheel, exhaust and air filter housing and a shifter. lesson learned. check everything. jim
