I can't help thinking the fender will be a bad match in color and maybe thinner plastic but you never know? If no one says they bought one and it was good I will probably not gamble and buy the Maier. My restos are all on YouTube and eventually go to Bring A Trailer so it has to be right. The problem is I'm still cheap! I am on oxygen since I looked at what a seat is going to run!

I bought a used set of plastics (maier) off ebay and paid about the same as the cheap new plastics for one of my 200x. these are just beater trikes so I painted the faded plastic. I'm tempted to make them look nice but not willing to go crazy for a trike that sits most of the time. Not only am I cheap, I try not to over spend on projects. I like to at least break even when I decode to sell, but I'm already past that with both of my 200x trikes. jim

    Cool I have 4 85s and one 83

What's the air cooled inline 4 with a USD frontend in the background?

And actually no, your front tire is not mounted backwards. That's the way it should be mounted on a trike for the best directional stability. I admittedly mount mine backwards for aesthetics.

Hi Shad, The bike in the background is a 1978 KZ650SR Cafe I built a few years ago. It is so much fun to ride I have never sold it. I tried to upload some pics of it but the site won't let the pics download? Last night I could post pics? Thank you for the tire info. Now what will I do with the time I saved by not having to dismount the tire??

I was told that the KXT brand name (not kawasaki tecate`) plastics seen on ebay are a nightmare to install. I personally have no experience with them.
Put your butt on the inside fender or end up on the ground!

It's plastic. How could it be a "nightmare" lol. It's KTX not KXT and these aren't even them so... K

Awesome. I had a 79 SR D-2 for a long time. One I should have kept.

Posting pics here is the dark ages because admin are basically useless.

I’ve bought plastics from all different manufacturers. None of them will ever fit 100% perfect. Maier is usually alright. Anything from DC plastics is bad. the KXT Pro stuff is middle of the road. You get what you pay for.

Maier is biggest of all brands now days. The stuff is very nice compared to the 1990's stuff. I just spend $750 for new TRX200sx atv plastics, bolted right on.

I have seen NIGHTMARES of the cheap plastics , hard and brittle, poor fitting you name it. some of these break into sharp shards like plate glass. careful what you get.
Rebuilding and riding trikes everyday and lovin every minute.
