    Atc200e with atc200s wire harness

Will a 200e run off of a 200s harness or will that ruin the alt/stator. I'm not worried about the electric start just what to get it to start. 85 atc200s with a 200e engine and the s wiring. The frame has been notched and plated around the starter already. It's one of those deals where the guy he got it from said the guy he got from said it ran so who knows. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

You should be able to make it work, but you will not have working lights. There is one wire from the stator that runs the ignition system, and then the two pulse generator wires to tell the plug to fire. in theory if it is connected to the 200s harness correctly it will function properly to make the engine run, but you would need a voltage regulator to make the lights and charging system for the battery work.

It should work. Yesterday I picked up a 81 ATC 200 with a 200E engine on it. It runs. I haven't looked close enough at it yet, but I think it's using the 200 wiring harness.

Didn't have the time to mess with it this weekend. I'm hoping it runs the hi lo subtransmission is going to be nice when pulling a trailer around the property.

The low range is really nice, and I’m sure with 22” tires compared the the 25” tires from the original 200e, first gear in low range will almost be a granny low gear.

I pulled the cdi cover looks like it had some water in it. Didn't get around to pulling off the stator/alt dish but I'm going to clean it all up before I start yanking on it.
