    Project 350 resurX-tion

I've been collecting and building this 85 350x for almost a year now and I'm almost done with the largest parts of it. I had the crankshaft rebuilt with a new connecting rod and also had the cylinder bored for a 12:1 wiseco piston. Replaced the main bearings with new OEM and I've also replaced the timing chain, clutch and countershaft bearing. I'm using a 350D cylinder and head since they were cheap and swap with the 350x.

For the suspension I rebuilt the front forks with new seals, wipers, progressive springs and 10w oil. The rear got a new seal head, a racetech reservoir cap and 10w oil. First rear shock I've ever done and luckily we have nitrogen at work to charge it.

I modified the swingarm to use a 450r brake stay, hub and caliper since I had the parts laying around. The front got a JR trikesports billet caliper mount and I found a cheap xr650 caliper since people think 350x ones are gold.

There's a lot more work to do but from the pictures you'll see how I started with a pile of miscellaneous parts to end up with a close to complete engine and ATC.

Awesome. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this build. Did you need to replace the upper rear shock bearing? If so please elaborate on this.

I didn't, it was in pretty good shape so I just left it. The shock doesn't look the greatest but I'm going for function over looks. I have some racetech cartridge emulators for the forks but I'm waiting to see how it performs when I race XC with it in a few weeks at the most. Hopefully I'll have the parts this week because there is a race this weekend but it'll be tight. I wouldn't recommend building anything from nothing or building something missing so many parts lol. It's been a pain in the rear.....

Nice build, I like to enlarge the valve guides just a tiny bit, I have seen several drop/bend/brake valves, it seems they tend to bind in the guides. ream them out when you rebuild the head yes, even new guides.
    Enjoy the process.

Modified the 85 engine to accept the 86 clutch cable brackets. The bosses needed drilled and tapped. The clutch arm is an 86 also, that's why I had to use the 86 parts.

This thing will definitely be a good mix of different atvs when finished. There's no less that 6 350x's that have supplied parts to this along with 250sx, 250x, 450r and even some redrilled DWT beadlock yamaha wheels. Still waiting on the clutch plates, and timing chain for engine. Also waiting on a chain, sprockets, brake hose holders, a number plate, a harness, CDI and some other small parts. Hopefully I'll have most everything in by Friday and on that evening.

It doesn't look like much but I finally got ahold of a seat to use. I'll buy a new cover and foam later this week. I have heard it fire once but I'm waiting to get a full exhaust which I found a used DG for a good price and I'll have it next week hopefully. Main thing left to do is rebuild a rear master cylinder and get the brakes working and foot pegs on and then I'll be able to actually start it and maybe take it for a test drive. I also picked up a case saver from DRW performance
