    Question 350x vs 200x

Hello, I am looking into getting a different 3 wheeler than my 83 200x. I was thinking about getting a 86 200x and buying a kit from Mickey dunlap to turn it into 358cc. I didn’t know if I should do that or just buy a 350x and he has a kit to make it 500cc. Is the 350x as light as the 200x. Should I go through with all this or what do you guys think.

just buy a 350x...your micky motor is not gonna last long at 158cc over stock. You need to accept the machine for what it is...again with the 350x you'd be better putting a mild 400ex motor in it. a stock 350x is nothing to brag about.

I had my 86 200x and loved it, they are light. So you can throw them around real well. I did add a better cam, bigger carb and took baffle out of the exhaust. Those woke it up a good bit.
But now I have a 350x and it’s not even close in terms of performance. 350 has better torque, better suspension, better ergonomics.
I’d look for a roller 350 and do some mods. I have a 400ex carb, cobra exhaust, no airbox lid, and cam. Much better than stock.

Find what’s in your price range. And remember that the internal mods to engine the less reliable it will be. I’ve build some serious engines (180cc alcohol atc90s, stoker 200x, 463cc 400ex, ect) and while they are definitely great in terms of power and over all performance, they tend to not be as dependable as a stock engine.

400ex will have the most power. A stock 350x and stock 400ex are very close in power.

Keep in mind that a 400EX motor is not a simple bolt in due to the oiling system. There's a few swap threads on here that I'd recommend reading before attempting it.

I looked into using a 400ex engine. I decided that unless you have good fabrication skills and the tools and a lot of time that would not be a reasonable option for me.
BVC and TPC have so many conversions into 3 wheelers but not one for a 400ex. Seems like that would be a good option for them.

But back to the 200X & 350X. In my opinion having mellow power is what makes these 2 machines fun.
It takes a lot of skill to ride a 3 wheeler "fast" and having smooth power delivery helps with that learning curve.
So if you are dead set on having a "fast" 3 wheeler get a 250R, Tecate 3 or one of the MX dirt bike conversions from BVC or TPC.
If you want to have fun and get more smiles per mile get a honda X.
Put your butt on the inside fender or end up on the ground!
