    this will confuse you!!

Three men go into a motel. The man behind the desk said the room is $30.00 so each man paid $10.00 and went to the room. A while later the man behind the desk realized the room was only $25.00, so he sent the bellboy to the three guys' room with $5.00.

On the way the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5.00 evenly between three men, so he gave each man a $1.00 and kept the other $2.00 for himself. This meant that the three men each paid $9.00 for the room, which is a total of $27.00, add the $2.00 that the bellboy kept and it totals $29.00.

    So wheres the other dollar??

    Trick Questions???

The men each paid $9 for the room or $27 total. The hotel got $25 and the bellboy got $2, so ($25 + $2) = $27.

    Or you can say each man initially paid $10 and had $1 given back to them. ($30 - $3) = $27 = ($25 + $2).

the way i said it its correct in the way i said it but the answer is mathematically incorrect

    30-5=25

    1$ to each person 9$ each 9x3= 27 they paid 27$ thats a fact

so the motel got 27$ and the men paid 27$ the bellboy got 2

    27+2=29

thats the way its worded, the math is correct but at the same time its incorrect

    if you do 30-5=25

the men got 3 so 3+25=28 bellboy got 2 28+2=30

but if you take the same 3$ the guys got and give 1$ to each of them and they ended up paying 9$ each which is correct the answer is different

guys got 3$ but they also got 1$ each and ended up paying 9$ a piece a total of 3$ less

2 ways to do the problem correctly 2 different answers , its confusing because like i said the problem is mathematically incorrect there is no other dollar

    wrong

Math can not be correct and incorrect.

    You laid out this formula:

the men got 3 so 3+25=28 bellboy got 2 28+2=30

The problem is it's not a true statement. You can't say 25+3 because the men never paid out 25 dollars, they paid out 27. By stating that your saying you don't understand it. 25+3 is completely irrelevent and is the trick of the question, not the solution.

you dont understand because you didnt read what i was saying, you didnt get the point of what i said, they were saying no no no its 25+2+3=30 whats hard about that, but i was saying 9$ each 27$ +2 from the bellboy does not equal 30$

the motel got 25 bellboy got 2 and men got 3 a total of 30$ is what they said and i brought it up, but you thought i was the one thinking that

but if you say they paid 9$ each which is 27$ total and the bellboy got 2$ its 29$ of the 30$
which is the way i worded it in the beginning

The only thing I thought you said was they paid 9$ each which is 27$ total and the bellboy got 2$ its 29$ of the 30$. I get that this is the trick because that is a completely false equation. That's just thowing numers together to trick people. That whole statement is false and made up. So you let people look at it and try to figure where the dollar went. The dollar went no where, the equation you gave is made up and doesn't apply.

the fact is that they paid $27 for the room, but to add the $2 dollars that the bellboy got to this amount is wrong. You would infact would be subtacting $27paid total- $2bellboy= $25 for the room. come on guys 5th grade math here. dont make it harder than it is. lol ---Joe
The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
